What the “Leave site” button does

It replaces the current page with BBC Weather, using the browser’s replace function so that pressing Back once does not return here. Pressing the Escape key three times quickly does the same thing. That is all it does. It does not clear your browsing history, your search history, your download list, your router’s logs, or anything on your network. Treat it as a way to change what is on screen fast, not as a way to hide that you were here.

What this site does and does not collect

• No advertising, no tracking cookies, and nothing that follows you to other websites. We count page views using Cloudflare’s privacy-preserving analytics, which sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and cannot identify you or link your visits to each other. It tells us how many people read a page, and nothing about who they are. Fonts and search still run from this site’s own files.
• Your dark-mode preference is stored in your own browser only.
• Search runs entirely in your browser; what you type is not sent anywhere.
• Like every website, the server that hosts these pages sees the address you connect from. We do not analyse or publish that.

Private or incognito windows

A private window stops the browser from keeping history, cookies and form entries on that device after the window is closed. It does not hide your activity from the network you are on (home router, school, workplace, mobile provider), from anyone who can see your screen, or from monitoring software installed on the device. It also does not stop a browser that is signed in to an account from syncing tabs or history if sync is switched on in a normal window.

Shared devices and family accounts

• If you use a family computer, tablet or phone, assume that another person can open the browser and see the history unless you clear it. Every major browser has a “clear browsing data” option; choose the time range and tick history, cookies and cached files.
• If your browser is signed in to a Google, Apple, Microsoft or Samsung account that is shared or set up by someone else, your history may appear on their devices. Check the sync settings, or use a browser that is not signed in.
• Parental-control or “family safety” apps can log every site visited and every search, regardless of private mode. If you are a minor on a monitored device, the safest option is a device or network that is not monitored, such as a public library computer.
• Notifications, autocomplete suggestions and “recently visited” tiles can reveal a site even after you close the tab. Clearing browsing data removes these too.

Networks

Using mobile data instead of home Wi-Fi keeps the home router from recording the site name. A reputable VPN hides the destination from the local network but not from the VPN provider. Neither does anything about the device’s own history.

If you want to keep or share something

Every claim and source on this site has a stable link. Copying a link is safer than taking screenshots on a shared device, because screenshots are saved to the photo library. If you print a page, the citations print in full so the paper copy stands on its own.

Privacy notice: people written about on this site

The guidance above is about you as a reader. This section is about people the site writes about, which is a different thing and deserves its own statement.

• Who is responsible. The site is published by the owner of the jwtruth.org domain, who is contactable at jwtruthorg@gmail.com and who decides what is published here.
• What is processed, and why. The site publishes information about named individuals only where a court, a public inquiry, a regulator, a newspaper of record or the organisation’s own publications have already named them, and only where the name is necessary to the documented point. The basis for publishing it is the public interest in an accurate record of these events, and the special-purposes exemption for journalism.
• Where a court has anonymised someone whom a publication named, we use the court’s identifier.
• Special-category data. Some of what is published, for example that a named person refused a medical treatment on religious grounds, concerns health and belief. It is published only where it is already in a public judgment, an inquiry report or the organisation’s own magazine, and only to the extent the point requires.
• Your rights. If you are named here, you may object to what is published, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your name to be removed. Write to jwtruthorg@gmail.com. We will reply. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
• Correspondence. Email you send us is kept only for as long as it takes to deal with it and to keep an accurate corrections log, and is not used for anything else.
• If your message tells us a child is at risk, we will urge you to contact the police or one of the child-protection services listed on the safeguarding page. We cannot investigate or act on allegations.

A note on honesty

We are not security specialists, and threats differ from home to home. If your safety depends on not being discovered, treat the above as a starting point and get advice from a domestic-abuse or safeguarding service in your country (see help and support), who deal with exactly these questions every day.
